"Water Wetter" is a coolant additive that is similar to what is used in the big rigs to help keep them from overheating. This version is changed slightly to work better with high performance gas motors. Ran it in my Duster when I lived in SoCal and with undersized pulleys(March billets) I still dropped 15 degrees! The price is a little salty sometimes, depending on where you get it, but well worth it if you have upgraded to a BB, undersized pulleys, undersized rad, etc.

I have read some info on these types of products. Here's some theory on it, if anyone cares.
They work by reducing the surface tension of the coolant. Example if you put a drop of coolant on a piece of aluminum, it stays in a little glob. It doesn't spread out to a film, at least not a really thin ne like say, oil does. This is due to surface tension. If you could look at the coolant microscopically you would see it's more like a bunch of balls moving on the metal surfaces, not contacting them fully. The additive reduces the tension, which makes the "balls" smaller. More of the area is contacted. More area contacted, more heat transfered. Both into the coolant(in the engine) and out of the coolant(in the radiator) Just thought I'd throw that in. |
