Default Upped Compression...

A while back, I asked how much compression would be safe for a daily driver slant six. I had the head off for a valve job and shaved .062 off to give 9.5:1, up from the factory ~ 8.4:1. I slowed the mechanical advance down just a bit and with 30^ total, 10 initial, no problems. The car runs great. No detonation problems on premium. This is with an open chamber head with the piston 0.140 (yes, .140) in the hole. Even with the lack of quench, the engine tolerates the higher compression. Also using the stock 244/244 cam advanced 4^. With quench or tumble port heads, I'd bet 10:1 would be no problem. Just wanted to pass this along.

If everything goes well that sounds like some slant-sickness.
Get a new intake port the head and new exhaust and that think would run like a v-8
