Default 360 buildup

Im looking to do a buildup of a 360. Right now I'm still in the preparation and research part of the project, but I'd like to know if I'm going in the right direction. I'd like to get about 500hp at the fly wheel. Here goes the plan so far;
360 block .040 over
edelbrock rpm air gap
hypereutectic piston .05 in dome
unsure of good heads, would like to use some #051 castings
want 10.5:1 compression
cam ?? 312/312 degrees duration, mechan lifter
edelbrock 750 or 800cfm man. choke carb
1.6in rockers

I know theres a lot more to think about but I would like a little help. and if anyone knows of a good machine shop in the Oakland area let me know.

In general, it sounds good. Sounds like you were reading, "Feeling Lightheaded"

500hp? That is a pretty tall order.

I'm looking for around 450 with mine... a .030 over 360 with 10.2:1

587 casting heads... gonna dump a lot of money into 'em to get 'em to flow though... ur prolly better off with edels...i should have gone with 'em but I spent the money brining my irons back to life so oh well.

I have KB107s and Eagle rods with a stock cast crank. Intake will be RPM Air Gap or a single plane, depends how happy I am with the Air Gap. Ignition will be an MSD Digital 6 and Blaster 2 coil. 1.6:1 roller rockers. Solid Flat tappet by Racer Brown(just waiting on money to port the heads, get flow numbers and then cam time! woohoo!)

Ask around but I think you will find there are other carbs besides the demon recommended.

tmef, Not really. Just got to build it to take it. Go read the link.

wallyghs, The RPM will treat you right. As for carb choice, install what you will. Just so long as theres enuff CFM to feed it.
Many will scream get a demon, get a holley! Get what you want.
When it comes racing the car, there will be a better carb for it than an Edelbrock.

My personal pref. is an AVS or Thermo Quad dependng on intake abilty's.
