If you're able, support cuda and his machine shop... he's been plenty helpful to a lot of people around here. I use Kammer and Kammer racing here in Dayton. Prices aren't too bad and the people are pretty nice. Don't know about quality of the work, haven't gotten anything back. I had the crank turned and polished and it looked pretty good... i'll know for sure when i get my block back.

Man, I wish Too Much was closer. I would drive for several hours to get some good machine work done--especially at an all Mopar shop. We have a pretty good place around here--Tucker's. He is supposed to be some kind of world record holder for pulling trucks, but he is a Ford specialist. He will do a mag. bore and hone for about $100, a torque plate hone for around $250, valve job for around $70, guides for about $250, (I think that is a .502" interference guide, not a K-liner--most places will K-line a set of heads for around $100). I couldn't say about the crank grinding, resurfacing or assy. work or line honing either, as I have never had to use any of those services, but I am getting ready to need some work done. This is out in the boondocks of KY, and I am sure Too Much charges a little more, but I am also sure that if the rest of the Too Much crew are as good as Don, it is well worth it. If you can't get your stuff to them, find a reputable machine shop with EXPERIENCED and TRAINED personnel and ask them what kind of equipment they use. Look for stuff made by Sunnen and/or Serdi, they are the best and the best use their products. Make sure your machinist uses a good accurate set of dial bore gauges (not Sears or Central, Sunnen or Mitutoyo or Starret are good) and make SURE you get an automatic torque plate hone. If all of that is check, you are (hopefully) good to go.

Thanks Wally...we appreciate your appreciation of our time and efforts.
$70.00 valve job?.....I'm afraid we can't compete, that only allows us 1.2 hours to do the job....does anyone here really think you can do a proper valve job on a set of SB Mopar heads in 1.2 hours? We charge $165.00 for a proper valve job...4 angle cut which is absolutely required on a Mopar head, on all out race applications we do a radius cut. ......the end result far exceeds the cost of the shipping. Most heads will require guides, surfacing, seat work or replacement, valves, bowl work, gasket matching, basic clean-up on the runners, spring seat work and positive seal modifications......so if you really want it done right the cost of shipping a set of castings to us is small when you look at the cost as a % of the total job when done right. If you'd drive a couple of hours????.....thats 2 hours each way.....then back again to get them.....8 hours.. plus fuel and wear and tear...how much is UPS to Zip 98665? One more note....NEVER let anyone use a K-Line guide in your Mopar heads......PERIOD.... Don The phone call is free....1-866-866-7845 |

HEY DEADHORSE66!!!
What part of Kentucky do you live in? If you are in reasonable driving distance of Knoxville TN there is a recording holding machine shop in town. Hensleys Racing Enterprises won't touch anything but MOPARS and they know their stuff. They do excellent work but expect to pay for their expertise. It is worth in my opinion because most shops try to apply their ford/chevy know how to your MoPar engine and usually screw something up.

More info on K Line guides in Mopar heads?
Don , Just for educational purposes can you explain why you shouldn't run K line valve guides. I think the K lines are pressed in right? I am looking to have Winona guides put in my iron Hemi heads because they screw in. Is this a mistake? What is a better choice? Thanks

Hey check this out...I found this doing a machine shop search one night. I know nothing about the shop but it lists some prices. Most of us dreamers are looking for a point of reference on what stuff costs. This link should provide that.
