I have a '96 Intrepid with the 3.5L and it has an oil leak that it difficult to track. The dealer replaced the camshaft retainer and o-rings but it still leaks somewhere else. It seems to come from the back of the engine and drip down running down the side of the transmission cover plate. I can't seem to track it any farther up without pulling major stuff out.
Any ideas? Thanks, Rich |

cam shaft thrust plates. the "o" rings leak.
i change them out on every tranny i do. the are on the rear of each head just below the valve cover. they are a pain to get to with all the hoses. the bolts are 13mm wrench. when you replcae the o ring in the thrust plate, be sure to reconnect the ground wires that are attached to the bolts.
