Neon transmission changeout

I have a 96 SOHC auto NEON and I'm really tired of the the three speed though I like auto for driving in the city I want to know if there is any four speed tranny that fits the neon or if anything that direction would require mods??

I hear this "complaint" alot from Neon owners. Have you ever driven a 4 cylinder with a 4 speed auto? Exactly what are yout "tired" of? How nonstock is your Neon?

We recently had the misfortune of having to drive a Saturn for a week while our Neon was in the body shop. It has a DOHC motor and a 4 speed auto, it's a slug. It got worse mileage than our Neon, SOHC. Less power too. Even with 50,000 less miles than our Neon.

To answer you're question, NO there isn't a 4 speed auto you can easily swap into your Neon. I just want to know why you wanted to try.

Check out Http://www.Howellautomotive.com. The have a few things for the auto trans that you can get. They will help you out if you have any other questions.

The only other option I would see is trading your current Neon for a 5spd Neon. I have a SOHC 5spd base Neon now. Greatly improved performance over my SOHC auto.
