Help Need help getting started

I am wanting to "pep" up my 225. I dont even know where to get started. I want the car to be a hot rod that I can drive on the street. I am gonna take it to the strip on occasion. I am new to cars, so I dont even know where to begin. I dont have big money to spend (the ex-wife gets it), so what can I do fairly cheap, and get good power? Please guys help me out!!!!

The slant holds lots of potential and several folks have turned them into real screamers. Take a trip over to slantsix.com and slantsix.org to get lots of info.

Thanks. I will take a trip over there and check it out. I am having problems locating simple things such as headers and intakes, and stuff like that. I was hoping to find some used stuff.....No luck yet.......guess I will just have to keep hunting.

gopar, what kind of car do you have? Headers for the '67-'76 A bodies are reasonably easy to come by. The early A's are kinda tough. Just keep watching the want ads on www.slantsix.org and www.slantsix.com and you'll see them. There are also quite a few Slant 6 racers down in your neck of the woods too.

I would like to thank everyone for their input and help. I think I am gonna just go ahead and put in a 340 though. I think I cna get more power for less money, and the parts are easier to find. Does anyone have a 340 laying around collecting dust? I will be glad to clean out your garage for ya!!! LOL. Also, does anyone have a dash pad for a 71 duster they are willing to part with CHEAPLY? Mine is so far gone, I cant even mount my tach to the dash. I think I found a donor car for a disc brake setup and bucket seats. The guy is gonna give me the car. It is a 74 Aspen. I think the parts should swap very easily. Any ideas?
Brian
