cheap power for 340s
Has anyone read the article in the october MOPAR MUSCLE magazine about the 340 with 477 hp for $2500?
Would this treatment do as well for a 360 at .040 over at about 10.5:1 comp? |

The 360 will respond the same way to mods as the 340. Very well. However, the diference will be more torque and max HP at a few RPM's sooner. Less max RPM due to increased stroke.
Not having the write up in front of me, but I remember it somewhat, this should apply to most engines. 9.5-1 Max for iron headed street engines useing pump gas. 10.5-1 Max for alum. headed street emgines useing pump gas. These compresion levels require (Most of the time) hi test gas. For my self, 93 does it. Barely. There are exceptions to the rule. I don't remember the cam specs, but, if you could, get a stick with more exhaust duration & lift. This is a benifit to any engine. |

It was a good write-up and like you am toying with staying with the 360 build or going for the 408. The only differnce being I have a good 360 crank vs buying a 4.00. A 368 you would think would be in the 500+ hp. Not too shabby for a street Dart. As for the $2500, they must get some "real" wholesale pricing on the components. Maybe Cuda66273 could build us a couple for that price - I'll even add the exchange to mine.
Go for it |
