Hi 23T,

Having just finished polishing my new master cylinder for my Duster, I was curious what happened to your jewler's rouge? Has it solidified? Or has yours turned to dust maybe? I was using the rouge that came with my Dremel tool, and noticed it would solidify if I kept the polishing wheel in it too long, but seemed to work ok even tho. Just curious. Tedious work but sure is nice to admire the results.

Bruce

Cry

Bought mine brand new in a tube and it is hard as a rock. The tube is about 1/2 with a cap on one end and you can see that it was a paste at one time.

The rouge at Harbor Freight comes in a block. .similar product You just put the block to the wheel and the wheel to the part. I would bet it is mineral oil based, so maybe add a few drops? My McGuires car wax got a hole in the bottle and it is hard now too. Oh well, another 3 bucks and I got a new bottle

Mopar155, try Wenol all-purpose metal polish. It is probably a little more coarse than jewler's rouge (meaning it will dig into hard cast iron), and it can be had at many speed and rod shops. I got mine at Hunter's in Nashville. They make it in jewelry and automotive grade also for a more "refined" shine instead of that "bunch of little scratches" look when you put it about an inch from your eye. I know for a fact that Wenol is petroleum based, because it smells just like kerosene.
