Question

Does anyone know how to disconnect the drl module? It's the second time it's failed on my 92 Shadow, and I just want to get rid of it for good. I think they're pointless anyway.
First off, where is the drl module and what does it look like? Do I need any special tools for the job?
Will my headlights/parking lights work normally if I disconnect this system?
I'm tired of the shop having to keep fixing something as useless as this.

Well unless your headlights now don't work, have you not solved your problem? Just a note, if you get stoped for any reason by the police, you can get a ticket, and you have given them reason to stop you.
Also if you disable them and get in an accident, your insurace has the option of not paying.

Sorry man, thats the way it is in Canada

It's a black box located infront of the left front wheel ahead of the splash shield it has a 6 or 8 way connector and you just need to unplug it and bag the connector to keep it dry

Headlamps will operate normally except, you will not have a hi-beam indicator

Wait a sec, it's illegal to not have DRL's in Canada? That's messed up if so...

Thank God I live in the USA.

Its illegal to disable them on a car that came with them. Cars built prior to then being installed are exempt.

Soon they will be required in the states too, GM puts them on most vehicles regardless of where they are going, states or canada.

Don't forget to rip out your seatbelts and airbags, and disable your antilock brakes, don't need a chance of surviving that accident.

99% of Canadians like the idea of DRL's. Accident rates are down and they do help.
I know this will open up a can of worms, but the fact is there is no point arguing it because if its the law and you get stopped that is all she wrote.

I think thats F#@$ed up. Sorry but they should be able to turn on when parking lights are turned on atleast. But they cant be until Headlights are on.

I don't need the sarcastic infantile remarks
by some of the past posts.

Do you do EVERYTHING as the law states?
