Question power to manual brakes?

I have a 70 Challenger with power disc brakes. I want to switch to manual brakes. Do I need a bracket to mount a new master cylinder to the firewall? I know i need a new rod fro a manual car, also a proportinal valve. Am i misssing somthing. I know that most Master cylinders are 2 bolt type and the Power are four bolt type. How about a newer model alum master cylinder with 2 bolts? I plan on running new lines anyway.

Mopar Performance makes a conversion kit that includes all the pieces required. Get the kit and a manual master cylinder and you are set to go. You can also get a master cylinder from Mopar Performance, but they are pricey. A local Mopar mechanic told me to get a master cyclinder for an early 80's diplomat with manual brakes, which I did and it works great.

Manual brakes are the way to go that is for sure. To run the later model aluminum MC you'll need an adapter plate and a pushrod from a manual car. (or buy a new one) As for the firewall bracket I'll confess my ignorance. It is necessary on some cars but I do not know what the '70 E body used. Your best bet is to look through some magazines and see if you can find a picture of a '70 E body manual brake car. Or find an exploded view in a Master parts book.

You can buy the MC adapter and the manual brake pushrod from Mopar retailers like Bob Mazzolini in Riverside CA.
