INtakes
Is there a difference in the factory intakes in a 318, 340 and 360?
The reason I'm asking is I have a factory 318 intake with a rebuilt Carter 2bbl carb that was on my 318 and now I want to know if I can throw it on my 360 motor. When the timing was good it ran real good on the 318 crashed the car but managed to salvage the intake and carb then scrapped the rest. I have the factory distributor on the 360 vacuum advance and all I am looking for good throttle response and don't care about higher RPM's 5000 +l |

Technically, a 318 manifold will bolt up to a 360. The port opening on the 318 is .200" smaller in height than the 360. I know guys with 4x4's that like to use a 318 manifold, or the Edelbrock performer (since it has the 318 sized runners) to keep the low end torque. My guess would also be that the factory 318 manifold will have smaller runners than the 360 manifold, so you might have power loses before 5000 rpm with that switch, and double check to make sure that the 2 barrel can keep with with a 360.
Would I personally use a 318 manifold on a 360, no. But that's just me. |

RogerH is right.
It will be restrictive for sure. I have a nice intake I can sale you for $60 plus shipping. 340 torker Edelbrock single plan. Its a open plenium type and is for horse lovers at the topend range. Great on 340 4-speed cars.
