Default Converting to diesel power

Well the 360 in my truck died last week and I want to convert to diesel power how difficult is it to switch from gas to diesel and what needs to be changed? Also what years are the best for the swap I was told that the older 12 valve cummins is easyer to hook up and about what price would the engine run?
Tkanks Chuck

Exclamation Conversion School

There are several things to consider when planning a conversion. I know because I just finished(?) my conversion of a '84 crew cab dually pickup. The donor was a '91 W250. It was actually pretty simple, but I wouldn't do it again without a complete pickup to canibalize; like I had for this one. The only issues I had were swapping over to the '97 NV 4500 tranny and the '97 easy pedal clutch setup. Otherwise it was very simple, just a lot of work.

What year truck are you looking at doing? What year donor truck have you found? That is what it all comes down to.

I guess your 360 has met it's Waterloo, LOL's. A little Napoleonic Humor there!

Smile

I converted my 91 Ramcharger and love it, I am getting 17 mpg with only 7000 miles on the rebuilt motor, when the motor finally breaks in we shall see what the milage is.

A lot of work but I agree, bite the bullet and get a complete 4x4 Dodge truck
89-93
91.5 -93 are intercooled and a better propersition to convert.

email me if you would like some other info
