Default 727 Governor Kit

Hey does anyone know where to find a 5500-6000 rpm governor kit for a 727. A&A trans has them, just wondering if there are other sources out there. One of the Mopar Mags had an article about the differences in the governors. The biggest difference was the spring. HELP!

Plum, try these guys:

TORQUEFLITE RESTORATIONS
11530 Pinole Ln.
Houston, TX 77066
713/893-7317

They've got governor kits for Max Wedge, Hemi, etc.
in numerous upshift points.

The phone number for torqueflite restorations is no good. Are they out of business? The governor kit at A&A is a little pricey especially if the difference according to the mopar article is the spring.

You could assemble your own high upshift governor from factory parts but knowing what to look for and the scarcity of the pieces makes the A&A a more practical way to go. They'll get you in the ballpark.
Removing mass from the inner weight and going to a lighter tension spring (along with raised line pressure) will get you to your goal but there will be a lot of trial and error involved.

Question

I remember the article too...I was wondering if anyone else has perfomed this modification with good results. Is it better to replace the governor first and then install a shift kit? Or is it better the other way around?
