Made in China

I think there's better choices ....depends on your spring pressures and RPM, do the oiling holes line up with the shafts?

It's your money and your car so it's your choice.

I just got done installing the aluminum 1.6 cat rollers on my 440. I could not find that many people who run them, but Before I bought them, I searched this forum and could not come up anyone who actually installed them who experienced a rocker failure due to poor quality. a couple of guys said they used them and liked them. looks like one guy had a problem, but many of the people who contributed to that thread seemed to think his spring pressure was way too high.

As for durability, I have not had them long enough to say, and I will just say they are great so I feel better about putting them on my motor. I would like someone to put together a list of what is made here and what is made overseas and where, not every little thing, but the big stuff like cranks, rods, cams, pistons, lifters, etc.... it would be nice to know. so, to make a short story long, I like them so far, but only time will tell.

Yeah, I remember. I think that it was in the Off-Topic area, not sure now. Hey I'm 36 and I'm getting old timers. I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night... lol

It would need to be in this forum, for me to manage it (make it a sticky).

Maybe start a new thread here. the first post of the thread could explain the purpose. the second post would be a growing list (maintained by me or cuda) of Made In USA. the third post would be a growing list (maintained by me or cuda) of Made in China. the rest of the posts would be additions that would later be incorporated into the other two and then removed.

Default Old-Timers

I thought it was very interesting how ed diagnosed himself, a middle aged man, as having "old timers". I hope i get that, rather than Alzheimers..... Just kidding guys. Time to go check out that older thread and see exactly where my motor was "made"

HEY!, I have always been rather thrusting of your guys posts. I went to the other post that ed suggested that I'm sure don started with good intentions, only to find myself in the middle of a testosterone hose-down session between the canucks and the yanks. Geez. I guickly dug a mil-spec foxhole out and camped in to read the rest but was unable to find anything else on where specific parts were made. I suppose, at last, I'll have to start some investigation of my own. Hopefully this new attempt that dkn1997 is making will show some results. Thanks again....

GEEZ........do any of you ever feel like you should have never opened your big mouth?LOL!!!

I actually feel bad now.I didn't realize so many things were made over the big pond! What is a guy supposed to do?It's like you can barely get by without buying a foreign product. Not knowing it wasn't made in the U.S.A. is almost an everyday experience it seems.

You've got them now...you need to be sure that the pushrod is getting correct oiling, the small hole on the underside of the rocker arm is supposed to oil the cup on the pushrod the position of this hole is critical as is the oiling hole in the shaft and the length of the adjusting nut protrusion from the arm itself...check it out and make your own decision....I'm tired of fighting 3,248,386,221 Chinese so I just avoid anything from them whenever I possibly can...we'll see what they do in N. Korea to assist us..or them.....

As far as I know, the CAT rockers do not have the pushrod oiling hole at all!

Now if your gonna shift at 4800 RPM all the time even a misaligned oiling hole will get enough oil to the pusrod to keep it cool and lubed...but...if your gonna wind it up and run big spring pressures you need to check the alignment and be sure you've got enough oil to keep things cool.

I won't be doing too much high rev stuff since my car is a steet cruiser, but I am running a hydraulic roller cam.I wonder if the springs are going to be too much for my rockers?I have never worried so much about a purchase than I am right now!!!!

My M/T cast BB valve covers were made in Japan...I had the Chrome LA timing chain cover that was made in Canada. All 4 tires made in Japan (Bridgestones) I gave up checking years ago.

I had the CAT aluminum rollers - broke FOUR last year. One was almost a disaster - broke a pushrod, the tie between roller lifters, sent pieces flying around. Lucy I found them all and it didn't destroy my engine.

I am also maybe the guy that had "too high of spring pressure" Well I thought so too maybe, but first I broke 2, had springs that were a high pressure like 700lbs open, still under what I was told the rockers were rated for, changed to much lower pressure springs, like 570 lbs open - broke another. Thought they might have been fatigued by the original springs, changed the WHOLE set, broke another. They are cheap, but you obviously get what you pay for.

I have since bought the Comp cams stainless steel pro magnum rockers. We'll see how that goes.

Default Harland Sharp

I put a set of Harland Sharp rockers on an engine last year. All was looking well until I noticed that one of the rockers was not drilled for oiling. I had to jig it up and drill the hole. So even the best parts need the be checked out closely before use.

Default To Billy from Del Rio, Texas

Billy,

I would like to talk to you about the Poly tunnel ram you have.
Please e-mail me at
glpavlovich@cox.net

I have done much research on the Poly motors and built a 402 stroker Poly.
You can read the articles in Mopar Muscle Magazine, 2001 Sept. and Oct. past issues.
Thank you,
Gary Pavlovich
