front stud removal?
How do you take out the front studs from the drum? Do you have to press it off? If so is there anything to worry about. The back ones came off fairly easily so i was thinking i have to press it off.
Thanks George |

Front Stud Removal
I had to use a press. Be careful not to bend the drum!
It is a good idea to support the drum directly under flange that holds the wheel studs. A way to do this is get a piece of pipe, 5" I.D. about 4" long. Place this pipe under the drum so it rests against the flange that holds the wheel studs. Press away! This 5" I.D. pipe works for small bolt pattern wheels. For the large bolt pattern the pipe I.D. will need to be larger. Good Luck. |

The studs are swedged into the drum. To correctly remove them a special cutter is used to remove the swedges before the studs are pressed out. Any full service auto machine shop should have the correct tools to remove and install the studs.
If the studs are pressed out without removing the swedges, the holes in the hub will be distorted. |
