Hello everyone,
A couple weeks ago I stumbled on to a discussion about the front wheel drive vehicles vs. the rear wheel drives, and there was quite a discussion. Someone was saying it wasn't worth messing with the 4 cylinder front wheel drives, and there were a lot of people who disagreed. I remember there were 2 people who had a webpage, one had a 4 cylinder minivan than ran 12.60s, the other gentlemen had a Aries I believe than he had in the 10.80s. I was completely fascinated by this, but I can't seen to find that discussion anywhere. Can anyone tell me what forum this was on, or if not that do they know the address of the web pages for the gentlemen who had the minivan and the Aries (if that is what it was, I am not positive). Thanks for your help |

I dont know an exact URL, but if you go to a search engine and look for "Gus Mahon" you will be given a link to his site. He's the guy who owns the 12 sec mini van. Quite an interesting site, it has some pages on modifications and links to pages of other turbo Mopar enthusiests/wizards. I do believe that the "Mean Mini" (as he calls it) came with the turbo engine from the factory.
Now the Aires I dont know who owns that...I have seen it in action at the track..it was going low 11s. Interesting car. ---Just look around all the 2.2/2.5 Turbo sites. You're bound to find links to either one's site. I hope I have provided u with enough info to find what you want. Mike "Dr Evil" Meier 1167 CF/SA Chrysler Le Baron |

Here's a URL for a Reliant K which runs 10.9's with a best pass of 10.86 at 127 mph. Much info here...

Thanks for the info. The minivan that I was thinking about was one Paul Smith built. He did run a 12.651 with it, which is really impressive. While this was modified quite a bit, it still is street driven according to his webpage. I am truly impressed with this, and take my hat off to him

I was looking at a mopar magazine today, I think it was Mopar Muscle, it said something like " dyno tests of 12 mopars" on the cover. Someone had a four cylinder daytona making 300+ HP, and a few others making some impresive numbers too. I remember reading about a guy a while back who had an omni GLH running mid 12's. I remember he had the intercooler mounted on the front bumper.
I know this doesn't answer your question, but I thought you might like to check out that magazine. ------------------ A.K.A. "old Gold" 86 D150: 2WD: 360 visit www.geocities.com/oldgold86/ |
