Question

Which motor is the most desireable to transplant in my k car for optimum reliability and performance?I dont know the diff from turbo 1,2,or 3. Should I go with a 2.2 or 2.5. car presently has a non turbo 2.5 and auto tranny with lockup converter.I considerd putting a turbo on this engine but time and energy are at a minimum.I can get my paws on several wrecked daytonas and i think a few are still complete and running. Thanks for all the advise and input sofar to everyone who have responded to my(our) questions.

2.5 turbo will probably be just fine unless you are going to be drag racing it at 6000 plus alot. They will give yuo a little more power at bottom end too. Try to find a motor with a garret turbo rather then the smaller mitsubushi. The difference between T1 and T2 is T1 had cast crank, non floating pistons, and weaker rods for the most part, t3 is a whole new game, DOHC lotus heads(prone to cracking) VERY EXPENSIVE

I think your easiest bet would be to find a turbo K-car as the donor car. Like an 86 Turbo New Yorker, they made lots of those. Everything will just transfer over without any modification. You will have the proper wiring, computer and K-car equal length halfshaft. The brakes might be bigger too. Remember, you will also need a turbo K-car fuel tank. I would stick to a turbo-1. Installing a turbo-2 would not be easy. Plumbing the inner cooler would not be fun and would probably require putting the bulge in the hood.

I would tend to lean toward swapping in a 88 or newer turbo engine and trans because it would be easier to intercooler later on if you want more power later.
Don't forget to get the computer and harness along with the fuel pump out of the donor car
