Sean Roe VEC1
I'm getting the VEC2 for my Roe Supercharged Viper real soon and want to know how much increase in power will the VEC1 would give me in my Ram truck with the mods listed below.
VEC = Viper Engine Calibrator The VEC1 gave a substantial boost to me before I put the Roe Supercharger on my Viper, but my Viper needs the VEC2 now. |

Kenny: speaking basically on opinion now, I'm fairly certain most of the guys and gals that hang around in "Performance Talk" either A) dont have vipers (the majority) or B) don't know much about their new technology. I understand that what you're refering to is performance and adding power to your vehicle but there isn't much talk about the viper v-10 and its multiple stages of chip performance. I'm pretty sure there is a Viper board here and judging by your number of posts, I'm sure you're the king of it There isn't anyone over there that can help you out? Anyway, again, I'm just giving you my opinion. Someone over here may be able to help you out. Good luck.
Now that I've replied to your post, you owe me a ride in your viper. -Fox Deacon |

hmm...
After posting my first replie about 20 minutes ago, I read it with much distress. How could I, a fellow moparian, turn away someone looking for advise and help? With my limited intellect on the vipers and their engines (my father in law owns a 98 rt/10), I got started immediately on researching the Viper Engine Calibrator and its uses. So far I've come up with this, in regard to you putting in your truck :
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/truck/VEC1.htm This guy put the VEC in his truck, supposedly. It helped with an increase in bottom end torque and reliability over his original problem of hesitation. With the engine mods you listed, based on your new cam and rockers (your duration, centerline, lobe lift, rocker ratio, and valve lift), I'd be able to tell you exactly what sort of range of increase you'd be looking at. I'm guessing the cam was hot and the ratio is either 1.5 or 1.6. Either way, you've probably increased your valve lift quite substantially and are now looking to compensate that with putting some more potent air/fuel down the hole. Were your heads ported at all? If not, this product will still show you some amazing increases. If so, you'd be shocked at the torque and horsepower youll pick up with your "real time" ability to control your A/F ratio and timing. Again. Still researching, I found that Roe Racing goes into the fact that the VEC: Quote:

92whitedak -
I know some people have put these on the 8 cylinder cars and trucks. cmyindy has one on his supercharged Ram SS/T with the 360 cu.in. Magnum and he runs something like 13.4 ETs, but he has a supercharger, and I'm happy with my Ram's performance, so I don't plan to supercharge it. It looks like Sean Roe gets his VEC1 made by Split Second with Sean's name on the outside of the unit. http://splitsec.com/ (info on this site provided by cmyindy) I didn't port my heads and I think I remembered all my mods on my Ram at the list on the bottom of my signature. Thanks for all the help. When I get my VEC2 on my Viper, I'll move the VEC1 to my Ram and post a report. It's an expensive mod ($409), but it worked great on the Viper until I supercharged it, then I found out I needed a better engine management system (& so did quite a few others), so Sean Roe went to Sweden to work with the manufacture of his supercharger and they came up with the VEC2. BTW - At the Viper sites I'm "just above average" with insane power mods - quite a few other people with Vipers run between 700 HP - 1300+ HP while I'm "limited" to around 675 HP at the flywheel. And of course there are quite a few with more modest mods at the Viper sites, too. And one or two with pure stock Vipers (but they are hard to find). |
