Cry Rocker alignment problem!

These rockers were picked up at a local swap meet. There made by Isky. They seem fine only the tip of the rocker were it meets the tip of the valve seems of maybe 1/8 inch or so, give or take a 1/16. This is not every rocker but a few on each side. Thet are in the right order as left and rights are concerned. If any one can throw out the correct order between both left and right heads, would be great. Also the hold tabs seem to be in the right place also, as the two fat ones are next to last on each end and the short ones in the other place. Are these different thickness. I have never run adjustables before only stock ones but setup should be no diff. Also note that the shafts must be aftermarket also. The is no notch at ether end of them. But the holes are oil holes are down. Maybe they need to be switched.

The hold downs can be moved a little or ground to help alignment. You can also get shims .015 if you need to move rocker away. Welcome to the world of racing, nothing is a bolt on.

I had acctually ground one already tonight to help alignment, I guess that side loads will be minumal from the rocker and springs.

Some aftermarket rocker instructions specify that the entire tab be removed from the hold down.

Yep, you can mill down the sides of the rocker body where it pivots on the shaft, add shims where you need to add material. I've got W5's on my small block with Cranes gold race rockers. Had to mock up the whole set and measure and mill, bought two packs of the .015 shims and now everything is spot on. Problem is if one has to be replaced since now they are all position specific.

I fixed them today. I had a set of used small block hold downs that at first glance seemed wider. I drilled the out in my press from the Small block 5/16 hole to the Big Block 3/8 hole. All the rockers on my engine were off in pairs and needed to be shimmed away from each other. It took me about 2 hours but now the right on. None of my hold downs have the little tabs that stick up on the ends. During fitting they all came off for proper alignment. If I would have run them like that I bet the valve guides would have went fast hu?

Those springs are pretty in orange....lol
just kidding

although be sure to check them often the first few weeks. Once everything settles in you may have to redo a couple, better to check and have to fix a few then to let them go and have to put new guides in.
