Power steering delete
Howdy all, I would like to ditch the power steering on my 5th Ave, but not sure what to look in to find a manual steering box.
>Are all mopar car gearboxes the same? mounted with 3 HUGE bolts? >Can a manual be installed in place of a power gearbox? >Are they interchangable? >If so, would anyone like to have power steering and trade thier manual setup? I would send it all to you! gearbox, hoses, pump, pulleys(incl crank) and brakets for a small block, If you send me a manual box! What a bargain! 5th |

Not sure about the 5th, but I just did a manual conversion on my 71 Dart. Some things to watch out for before starting:
I believe you will need a new steering column (not positive, though). The manual boxes are not as tall as the power box and the splines I believe were different as well if I remember correctly with the power steering spline being larger in diameter. It should bolt directly in place on the K-member with the same 3 bolt pattern. |

The first place Id probably look would be F bodies, unless all the manual setups were more or less the same. I think power seteering was standard on Ms, except maybe the 70s ones.
