Magnum and OBD II retrofit
Ed, if you are reading this, please don't move this thread to the Dak forum. Here is the problem: I have a 1992 Dakota with a 2.5L 5sp that I am really getting tired of. I already had to replace the head once, I have done everything but deburr the combustion chamber and add stainless valves, and it still spark knocks (have retarded timing, put in lower temp. t-stat, run 93 octane religiously). I have all but decided to put in a Magnum 5.2 with OBD II electronics and all, but I really don't know exactly what I am getting into. Here are the questions: What is involved in bolting the engine in? Just 5.2 mounts, or is it more complicated? How bad is it to get the engine wired and running with all of the electronics functioning? What 5speed do I need?
I remember chatting with a gent that had an older car with a Magnum engine and the corresponding electronics, but I do not remember his name, so friend if you are reading this, please help.
Sorry for littering up performance talk with Dakota stuff, but few in the Dak forum could offer much help. Thanks in advance.
