Question Cam setup question?

Getting ready to degree a Cam shaft for a 440 engine. The engine will see track time but will not be subjected to pulls much over 5500........at least 6000 rpm's. The camshaft is as follows.

Mopar purple solid
284/284 .528/.528 dur@.050 is 241 there is only 60 deg overlap. The cam is ground at 112, Rec intake install centerline is 110 deg. I was thinking I read somewere tha places like muscle motors install theres all at 102 deg. That would be 8 deg advance. I was planning on installing mine at 106 deg advance which would be 4 deg more thatn they say too. It would help throttle responce for sure. Just wondering what you racers are doing in your Big Blocks. This cam should have great street manors.

The slant six cam using this lobe installs at 102 degrees. But it is also ground on a diiferent lobe seperation to give it more overlap,68 vs 60, which gives less low end. The 102 install must be to get some of the low end back, besides it is a slant six with only half the cubes as a 440. If you don't have traction problems, advance it.

I'd stay with the 110. We ran one in a circle burner, and it pulled very well at 2000 and would go 6500. No need to fool with that kind of power band. This is in a 451 by the way. (the 451 is just a 440 made smaller on the outside. Everything inside is the same except the pistons). Idle is a little on the lopey side but not radical. Much smoother than the 284/484/68 "235" hyd cam, which is installed at 106.
