Default Shift Improver Kits

Hey guys and gals,

I've recently been having some problems with my trans so I'm thinking about tearing it down for its first strip ever. Problem being, for anyone interested, is that it seems to have a problem shifting from 1st to 2nd. I mean, it shifts, but after about a half hour of driving and the vehicle gets warmed, if I approach the shift point from 1st to 2nd slowly, the tach will drop from about 2655 to a miniscule 900-1250. It seems to bog down. If I let off the gas a tthis point, it will shoot back up (like its falling back into first) and if I give it some gas, it'll grunt and rumble and then shift into second like a good little boy. I'm guessing bands but can't be sure. Anyone heard of this before? ANYWAY, getting to the point. I'm tearing it apart and will be rebuilding it with all nice shiny parts (I think I'm the only person alive in love with my a500). Question being. Does anybody make a Shift Improver Kit or Transkit like B&M for the a500. I sure would like some smoother and more well placed shifts. Thanks guys, for all feedback.

I love my A-500 too, I've got 166,000 miles in it with no problems. Only regular fluid changes. One of these days I'm going to adjust the bands.

Mopar made a shift improver kit.

Now you can enjoy firmer, quicker shifts with these overdrive rear wheel drive shift improver packages. On the A-500 and A-518 lock-up overdrive automatic transmissions used in RWD trucks, the part-throttle kickdown function is retained along with the full shift pattern. These kits are designed for general purpose or high performance applications.

Thanks alot JV. I did a little searching after my post last night and found out that TCI also makes a kit for the a500. What does everyone think? TCI or MPP? I think I've heard most of you favour TCI in the way of converters and transmissions. Any opinions?

Way back when I worked in a tranny shop, we used Trans-go kits on 727's and 904's. I don't know if they make one for the OD units but they worked great on the older stuff. They came in three flavors, -1(towing and street use), -2(more serious racing), -3(full manual).
