Default What are 516 heads?

I have heard of 906, 915, & 452 type heads. I inherited some 516-7 type heads, can someone enlighten me on what these are.
Thanks

They are very old heads, basically boat anchors these days. The factory guys thought so much of them that they obsoleted them 35 years ago!

They were 66-67 361-383 heads I belive. Alot of people here dont like them, I have found they have potential for a great street/strip engine. There a closed chamber design. Post your email and I will shoot you some good quailty pics of my modifed 516's. You can compare them to a unported 906 too. I would post them on here but its a pain do to the file size restriction!

They are the old b/rb heads. The most popular B/RB head through the mid 60's. They were fazed out with the 915 in 67(still used in 67) all gone by 68.

Like 6 packin said, lot's of people here don't like them. I like them because of the closed chamber design. The same design seen in more modern heads. Almost all aftermarket performance heads are a closed chamber design.

They can help boost compression on smog motors because of the smaller chamber. They do have a smaller exhaust valve than the newer heads(1.74" 906, 1.60" 516) this can be remedied at time of overhaul.

Read the "cylinderheads pt I" article at www.moparmusclemagazine.com It does explain different benefits of some designs, but does not include the 516 head specifically.

If you don't want them, I'll gladly take them off your hands

69fan, Riverside isn't too far away from you is it? Run down there sometime and visit Bob Mazzolini Racing on Coumbia Ave. He knows everything there is to know about Mopars. If you need any parts he'll have them.

Ask them about 516 heads. I'm pretty sure they'll just laugh but who knows, maybe those old boat anchors are the new hot thing to run in Stock Eliminator!
