Thinking too hard?
I'm putting a 440 in my duster. It's almost ready. I am using schumacher mounts and headers. My questions:
1. Does anyone know where I can get pics to figure out how to do my brackets? 2. Flexplate. I'm putting my 727 into a big block case. The duster has a 71 340 (old and tired). What is bothering me is my torque conv. going to bolt up? I've got the 440s flexplate, and the 340s flexplate. What about balancing? Internal and external? 3. Did anyone watch Hot Rod t.v. where they were dissing the 440 put in a dart/ swinger? They pulled the 440 and are putting a 360 in it. Can you imagine the work some guy had to go through to make a pavement pounder outta that car, just to have it dissed on national t.v.? Thanks in advance... |

Im sure Hot Rod TV was looking at the whole package in terms of streetability, handling, braking, etc. They seem to be politically correct on some issues. the 360 is a lighter combo that would autocross better than the 440, but a 440 with AL heads and intake, etc is lighter than a 360, Go figure. They were probably just embarassed a Duster with a big motor can be made so easily, and it would trounce most big buck chevys that they would lose membership to the Mopar camp!!
as for balancing, it was all in the convertor, not the internals. Some convertors used the smaller flex plate, others didnt, keep both! |
