I have 4 new 245/60 15 radial t/a tires at home,I'm planning to mount them on 15x8
Cragar SS . Mopar is a 1970 Challenger RT;now the point is I was told that my tire size is too small for 8 rims and eventually they will not clear front openings...someone can help an Italian Moparnut?

i have BFG Radial T/A's in a 235/60R14 mounted on the front of my 72 Charger with no problems. The rims I have are 14"x7 1/2". What you have should work fine.

As far as rim size, I don't think you will have any problem. I have run 265/60 15s on 8" rims and they fit and wear good, so 245s shouldn't be a problem. On the rear, if the rims have less than a 3&1/2" offset to the back, you will have problems with the tires rubbing on the wheel opening lip, and with 3&1/2" backspacing you might even have to roll the lip up to keep the tire from rubbing. You can gain about an inch of extra clearance on each side by swapping in a B body rear end, and it isn't hard to do. I'm not sure about the front, as I've never run a 60 series tire on the front of my Cuda, but if Elwenil is running them okay on his B body, you probably won't have any problem on your E body.

I'm not sure, but I think the Challengers have a slightly smaller wheel opening, than what I have on my Charger. I still think the 245's will fit, as I have the 235/60's on mine and it is basically slammed to the ground. The top of the tire rides inside the fender lip, and it doesn't rub anywhere, so I think that there would be plenty of room to run them on a Challenger.

Thanks Elwenil.
Larry S. I checked backspacing of Cragars SS 15x8 ,it is 4 1/2 ,I guess it is enough to avoid problems,I'll looking for a set of them, thank you for help.
Larry,I agree swapping a B body rear end is not hard to do, but unfortunately I live in Italy and there are no B body here.....

Robe, with 4&1/2" backspacing you shouldn't have any problems at all. At worst you might have to roll the inner fenderwell lip up to keep the tires from rubbing on corners.
