my check engine light came on, gave me a 12, 43, 55
I know 12 is battery disconnect, 55 is end of codes. but I cant fine my neon haynes manual or the 43 code on the net, I find like 4 different things it could be on 80s to 90s dodge

God bless neons.org. I found code 43 there, but now I am trying to trace my misfire. plug wires have been on for about 25-30 k maybe cuz they were cheap autozone wires, all they or anyone else had in. I have platinum +4 plugs, about 8k. and I fixed a bad vacuum hose, its the one that runs from the factory intake to the back side of the valve cover on the passengers side. unhooked the battery and let it sit but Im still trowing the code. :/
(have since replaced the cheap wires with mopar factory wires. put champion plugs in. no change.)

misfire

hi do you feel a miss in your eng. if so and you have changed plugs and wires you may have a weak ign. coil or a burnt valve see if you can track down a cylinder by pulling one wire at a time see if the eng. does not chang rpm this would be the cyl(make sure to use well insulated plyers for this procedure). your next step would be checking for spark output. if it is good check compression with a guage and compare to other cyls. between thes two things it should point you in the right direction. if these both pass you may be looking at the fuel system i have worked for chrysler for 15 years and havent seen to many fuel problems other than pumps going out good luck

Well one day before the big move to southern Pa. I decided to get under the hood and move some wiring around and look for stuff rubbing and maybe grounding out where it shouldnt be (it has had some shop work and everything else they did bit me in the a$$ but anyhow) one of the wires that go into the ignition pack was exposed. quick fixed it with some silicone stuff (temp until I get time/ambition/good butt connector or broke down on I81) unhooked the battery and no more code 43. now for that 2.4 lol
