Nearly everyone has had vibration problems on the 17" Goodyears! According to the latest I've heard, Goodyear now has a 2nd generation tire and will replace yours at no cost. Contact your Chrysler dealer for the details, and don't let them put you off!

Goodyear provided a set of what they call "fix" tires (product code 706442034)
for my 300M a few weeks ago. Those tires had less vibration than the first set
of adjustment tires they provided in November, but they're still not right.
Goodyear customer service told me that Chrysler requested manufacture of this
"fix" tire "tighter specifications" to try to resolve the "vibration inherant"
in their new generation LH cars.

Goodyear says that the vibration problem Chrysler has, involves both Goodyear
and Michelin tires. My Chrysler dealer says that Goodyear is "blowing smoke",
and the problem is the Goodyear 17" Eagle LS tires. He recommends installation
of four new Michelin tires, but his district manager will not authorize it. The
district manager wants to provide one rim for the car, in case it's a bad rim.
He won't provide four wheels. Just one.

I transferred the rims off my '93 Intrepid onto the 300M. That solves the
vibration problem. The '93 Intrepid has 16" wheels, and Michelin energy MXV4
plus 225/60R16 tires. I've pointed this out to the Chrysler district manager,
but he still says no, he will not provide a set of Michelin tires to replace the
Goodyears, and if I don't like it, I can go to arbitration. My Chrysler dealer
recommended that I file for arbitration.

I called Discount Tire in Traverse City and asked how much it would cost to buy
four 17" Michelin energy MXV4 plus tires. That tire is rather rare, apparently.
The nearest available set, he said, is located in a Houston warehouse (I live in
Michigan). And, he said, they will cost $900 installed. He checked with
Goodyear, and even though my Goodyears only have a few hundred miles on them,
Goodyear will not provide a return authorization for the tires, so the tire
dealer cannot give a credit for the Goodyears. Normally, he says, if you have a
set of Goodyears and they don't work for you, Goodyear will provide a return
authorization number, and the dealer can then give you a credit against a new
set of some other brand.

I am confused! I suspect that the 300M might be sensitive to vibration, as
Goodyear says. Or, maybe the Chrysler district manager is right....maybe the
problem resides on one of the 17" chrome rims. Perhaps the Case & Watson
Chrysler service manager is correct, a new set of 17" Michelin tires
will solve the problem. It amazes me though, that Chrysler will not go along
with their five-star dealer's recommendation!
