Default info on differential size

Would the differential from a 69 Fury fit on a 72 cuda?
Was wondering because I have a 8 1/4 that I could get easily.

Not without removing the spring seats and rewelding them. The E body has a narrowerer seat width than the B/C body. 46" for the E and 47.3" for the B/C.

Take a look at the sticky (towards the top) title Axle Dimensions. Your answers are right there.

On a side not, I wouldn't bother with an 8¼ rear. Hold out and get yourself an 8¾ rea

Listen to Ed
You may find a 8 3/4 rear around the corner for the same price.

C bodies and E bodies share the same 46" spring width and the '69 C body rear end is within 1/4" of the same overall width as the E body.
The C body rear end is a bolt in for the E body with one possible exception, the pinion angle. Some C bodies have a different pad position which makes the pinion nose down when installed in an E body. Tapered shims will easily correct this.

http://www.chopper.nu/dart/tech/rearend.htm

acording to this for all c body leaf center to leaf center is 47.30
all e bodys center to center is 46
it would not be a straight bolt in
leaf springs need moved rearend needs narrowed and driveshaft is to short. all thise is not worth it for a 8 1/4.
Im new to all this so if im rong pleas explain it to me.
