It's much simpler to figure without using a formula. Just measure from the bead with the wheel turned upside down to the pad where the lugs go and that's backspacing. Measure from the same bead to the edge where the center is welded to the rim. By measure both sides you can see if it is centered,pos. or neg offset. Offset effects handling of a vehicle and backspacing effects the track width.
