Yes! Those heads are pretty close to the original closed chambered 273 heads. Great combo, get a better intake. You dont have a commando 273 4V do you? Those are pop up pistons thatll require an open chambered head.

no, my 273 is a 2bbl engine. so these 302's would show improvement then? how much compression do you think i can gain? i havent testd my cylinder pressure, but all plugs are good and i don't use much oil.

The original 273 heads were supposed to be about 57cc's the 302's are about 62. I dont think youll see a large compression difference. Good score.

so the valves in 302 heads will clear the bores in a 273? this car is my driver, so i would be making the switch on a weekend and i don't think i should notch the bores with the pistons in the block!

Yes, the valves will clear the 273 block because they are the same size as 273 valves (1.78/1.50).

Make sure you clean and flux the heads before you run them as I recently purchased a set of 302's and found cracks between the valves in each head and it runs right thru the seats. Now the guy won't take them back since I can't find the stupid receipt and I don't have the $300 to fix the cracks and give them a valve job....
