Question Radio's station read out

A good freind from work asked me a question about his stock stero in his 90 something Sundance. The LED (?) lights for the channel display are out. Music still plays and he can change the station, but just dosent know where he is at.
Does anybody know of a place that fix's this problem?
Would a local shop be able to do this?

They're not LEDs (light emitting diodes), they're LCDs (liquid crystal display) like you have in a cheap digital watch. If they're gone, they're gone. You'll probably end up pulling a new display out of a junkyard, or buying the $59 special at your local electronics store. And in my opinion, that would be the best idea. At the very least you get a new radio with all associated warranties, etc, and you get the upgrade from factory equipment.

UM...I can take just the disply out of the radio?
The whole radio idea is a good one.
They used the infinity units for a long time now huh?
All the same style mounting?
Hook up in the rear of the radio probably hasn't changed in a long time.

Thanks my freind.

Hookups should be exactly the same. If not, it's because the new radio comes with more stuff than the factory one did. Usually though, they'll come with all the speaker wires, RCAs, antennae hookup, and sometimes extra stuff for base, preamp, etc. As for install, it should just slide right in where the old one was. The only thing you may have to change is the front "surround" of the unit. It should be in the $5-$7 range. One more thing, if you have 1 1/2 "DIN" mount, Pioneer makes a head unit to fit. AM/FM/CD/Cassette.....$150 or so. Hope this helps
