Default Axle shaft length

Does anyone have the specs for axle shaft lengths? Not the housing mind you I need to know the length of the right and left axles themselves. I have a pile of 8 3/4 axle shafts and I want to know what they fit.

Thanks

Hmmmm. Mopar muscle cars have the centerline of the whole drivetrain offset 1.5"(closer to pass frame rail)if you look at any 8.75(or any 8.25/7.25) you'll visibly see the offset, the axle shafts correspondingly differ in length. The reason for the offset is: a shorter axleshaft will consume less power therefore the RR tire will see more hp than the LR,at the same time the weight transfer is concentrated on the RR,youll notice when power braking or dumping the clutch the LF lifts considerably higher than the RF,(due to rotation of the crank)which causes the RR to preload (thats why theres more leafs on the RR on track pak and super track pak cars) and aid in traction, even if the LR spins the suregrip will help transmit more hp back to the RR which will help accelerate the car,.hope this helps.......PRO......

The axles are the same length side to side. The offset is in the pinion and ring gear assembly, not the axles.

I'd have to agree with 340duster on that one as I've had mine out and standing next to each other and I think that I would have seen a 1.50 inch difference. hell, I've had them out and back in at least 6 different times and with my luck I know that I would have put the wrong one in if they were different............

Default Length

Your probly gonna have to go to your manual which has specifications in them, like the service repair owner manual has it. Take a gander, possibly the dealer could tell you...

I must agree. I have an E-body 8¾ sitting in my garage. The axles are out and both are the same length
