-AN Help
I am running new fuel line. I have never used -AN line before. How do I cut this stuff? The guy at Summit Racing told me to wrap it in electrical tape and use a chop saw. This did not work. Is there a better way?
Thanks |

are you going to a 3/8's line? well if you are, pick up a pipe cutter, and a bender. u might or might not use them alot, but are great.

I wrap it with masking tape twice around, Mark it in the middle of the tape where I want to cut it. Cut it with a hacksaw. This will leave a width of tape on both ends after cutting.

Very seldom. You still have to be carefull and shove it into the fitting carefully to get all the wires inside the fitting.

here's a tip for you, on your hacksaw, use two blades when cutting the braided hose. Put one blade in backwards, that way it cuts on the forward and back strokes.

and be sure the blades are very sharp and not coarse tooth, use very little downforce and speed......PRO.......

I make these lines up everyday...you can tell by the blood stains on the floor under the vice...LOL
Our pre-made lines sell real well locally ...I'll be putting the web page up with the pre-made sizes and dimensions soon but anyhow.... I use my 3/8 drill and a 3" cut off wheel, clamp the hose in a vise at about a 30-45* angle upwards. Grab the hose and hold tight and use your fingers to steady the drill, just rotate it down into and through the hose go real easy as you get to the far side. As you cut bend the hose to open the gap and not bind the cut-off wheel. If I need to do a bunch of them I'll drag out the compressor and hook up the die grinder....zip right throuugh in about 5 seconds. |
