Best and cheapest are usually mutually exclusive. Which do you want? The cheapest would be to recondition a used one.

For $hits and Giggles I called Advance Autoparts and ask them for a crank kit for a 1968 Dodge Charger, they said $280 with bearings. They did not know what under sized it was, and even if it was a steel crank. I explained the differance in the converters and damper to the guy compared to the cast crank. He said then it would be steel crank. Say you pay $75-100 for a core crank, have it turned on both mains and rods, ok..another 75-100 bones. Dont forget the bearings...the mains are around $75 a set, not including the rods which are close to 2-4 bones each so theres another $35-40. That reman steel crank looks good now! Even turn .040 which I doubt theres bearings for it will be quiet stronger than the cast when new!

I'd sell you a brand new 440 cast crank for $100 if you were local. Boxing it up and shipping it to Canada doesn't seem like any fun to me though.

I have several brand new cranks that are original Chrysler castings. I got them from McCandless and he got them from Chrysler when they cleaned out their inventory back in the early 80's.
