Seals go on each side of the bearing. Take them to parts house and get them swapped. Much easier that way. End play adjust. Install both axles and have a friend push the left wheel towards center of car. Turn adjuster on right axle till you take out the play. There is a min. amount, but I do not remeber the spec right off the top of my head. Some one hear knows or just check a service manual. I know it's in the haynes book. After adjustment remove one axle nut and reinstall the metal lock tang and reinstall nut. All done.

Yes it's an 8 3/4. As far as I know there is no other rear that uses the axle bearing adjuster, but I have not serviced a Dana 60 so it might or might not have one. Some one here knows for sure.

The best way to replace the rear wheel bearings is to remove the axles, take them to a shop and have a set of non adjustable bearings pressed on. This eleminates the left right orientation, reduces leaks and ensures any previous damage to the axle is eleminated.

I agrre with you George. I had a friend let a parts house redo a 3/4 from a Sport Satt. installed and adjusted it. We took off down the road and ping went the adjuster lock and the adjuster spun itself completely out and you could hear the axle moving back and forth. Readjusted and tryed again and same thing happend. Dont know how they screwed it up, but they did. I still have it in my shop. I swapped him another axle and some day I will take it apart to see what they messed up.

I am very glad to see another 1946-47-78 Mopar Coupe listed.

What make & model are you working on ???
Please reply when you have time.

I have a 1947 Chrysler New Yorker Club Coupe that is in the restoration and conversion process.

Thanks
