Default 413 steel crank

I have a perfect teel 413 crank out of a truck, it has the larger holes in the end for flex plate or flywheel. Can I drill out the flex plate to accept larger bolts or have the crank drilled and tapped for smaller bolts? the whole thing is going in for a good balance job .

If the crank flange has 8 threaded holes, the flex plate or flywheel from a 426 Hemi might fit.
If the flange has 8 holes that aren't threaded, it's most likely the extended flange that won't work with any contemporary flywheel or flexplate.
Are the holes threaded? (1/2"-20)

Just to add to what John said, the old ones are smooth at the rear, no protrubing lip to center the flywheel/flexplate.

yes it has 8 threaded holes with no centering lip. It came out of a 64 car hauler used by Don Grotheer. Don is a 1/4 mile racer from the 60's that lives here in my town. His wall is full of throphies and plaques from that era. MOSTLY MOPAR!!!!!

That is the old style that indexed on the OD of the flange. Might also be a length issue here as the old stuff sat over the flange not behind it. John might be able to steer you on that issue.

I've often wondered about those industrial 413's, I wonder if this one is an extended flange that someone threaded or if the '62 and later had the short flange but no centering hub.

Ken, any chance you could post a pic of the crank flange.
