Default Econo converters

At the risk of sounding like a repetitive dumass, has anyone used the Econo-converter from Mother?

I'm using a 238/238 @ 0.050" .474 lift cam with 9.5:1 comp in a 318, M1 dual plane, ported 302's with 1.88/1.60's.

Trans is 904 with turbo action rev man valve body, raybestos clutches, and other goodies.

Final drive is 4.56:1 and car weighs 3200#.

I was eyeing the highest stall converter I could get in an econo, simply for the cost. Seems it will be OK with my setup.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I was looking at the similar converter for my 318 as well. Most of the people I questioned about the 175K econo converter had positive things to say. These were all people that had used the converter behind a mild small block. The Econo name kind of made me nervous, along with MP's quality issues. Mancini has the 175K converters for about 150 bucks. The direction I decided to go was to go with Coan. They have a converter that stalls about the same as the 175K but the internals were beefed up. The Coan converter was 290 bucks. It was double the Mopar unit, but as I mentioned above, the MP issues made me nervous, and many of the opinions here state that the converter is essential to how well the car performs. I didnt feel with my mild set-up I needed a 600 dollar converter, but something mid-range that was built well. I dont have the converter in the car yet, its one of my planned Spring upgrades. Just my 2 cents...

That sounded like $.03 worth. Let us know how it works. I'll be needing something by the middle of the summer. Just getting started with a '71 Sebring and Hemi install in a couple weeks. Hopefully.

Fairbanks has quality converters for a less money than say Dynamic or Coan. They make only custom converters now I belive. You can get them without Anti Ballon Plates for non NOS type applictaions and save some money.
