Oil pump pickup mods??
Redoing oil pan baffles for hopefully the final time. While I'm in there has anyone removed the sheetmetal cover/shield over the pickup screen. This appears to be a "factory" baffle to catch a little oil under braking. Trim it or just leave it alone?

leave it alone, in the center of the pickup screen is a whole that is pressing against that metal cover. It is there so that if the screen gets totally clogged that the suction from the pump will lift the screen and oil will flow through that hole.
Or that's how many are, and the 360 I did was. |
