Question electric blower, your opinion?

Anyone know anything about these "electric superchargers" on ebay. Looks kind of hoky to me, but it seems like it could work, like for prespooling a real turbo.

It has been said here before (if you search for it, you will find the prior thread). Stay away from this thing.

First off, it is only 220 CFM. That is hardly forced induction. your engine will draw 220 CFM at around 1/3 throttle. At WOT, your engine will draw much more than 220 CFM. So if youre engine is pulling more than 220 CFM on its own, this thing isn't going to help.

Honestly, that thing looks like the blower motor for an indash AC/hetaer.

That electric supercharger actually looks nearly identical to a 12 volt whitewater raft inflator sold by the Metro company - I have owned one for about 6 years and can tell you it puts out less than 2 psi. It does save alot of time when blowing up a big whitewater raft though.

yeh, this is total snake oil, you can buy these blower fans for like 8$ at your local hardware store. But seriously, these wouldn't give you any performance increase, as stated above, they dont push enough air to make it worth while..
I have seen some HUGE blowers, that are the size of starter motors, that are used on some GM trucks, that actually work (its a true forced induction system). but these little farty fans wouldn't do anything but make it harder for your engine to breathe..

I have something like that on my lawn mower, it cost me 10$ at Princess Auto, I couldn't really tell you if it makes more power, but it sure looks cool and gets peoples attention (Is that a supercharger on your mower, WOW!)

it'd almost be cooler to rig up some sort of intercooler with that type of fan blowing on it. you'd get better performance on your lawn mower with an intercooler setup

i'd have to admit, now that we are on lawncare euipment. I spent 9 weeks working on a dual carb setup for my weedwhacker. polished both carbs and aded an extruded aluminum dual carb intake. Mean as a MOFO. No true hardcore performance increase. Infact, it floods badly at WOT. Just the looks on people's faces when they see my weedwhacking is enough to keep me from full throttling it and looking like a fool. I'm going to order that electric blower and mount it on there. Maybe I'll chrome the shaft and cup that houses the weedwhacking line. I WILL have the most pimped out weedwhacker on my block.

hmm... i just got done playing with the exhaust on my lawnrunner (riding mower painted similar to my car ), maybe i oughta look into these 'electric superchargers'.... my dad would love the idea too!

thanx for the idea! now i'm off irritating my mom some more with my noisy, wheelie riding mower!

pics of my lawnrunner here: http://www.moparchat.com/forums/show...ght=lawnrunner which need to be updated...

For sure drop one in, I love the paint job, oh, I can't wait to get home, all this talk about lawn mowers has got me thinking, I have a pipe from a Nija, maybe I could get that on the mower too, you know, I bet if I run it on Octane boost, it'll be able to mowe trees, HAHAHAHA

i thought about a pipe running toward the back, coming out right in front of the back tire on the left, but thats a FUTURE thing... still somthing i wanna do though... $50 fer one o' dem cheap lookin electric motors is WAY too much... i can get one a lot cheaper at westlake... i'll definently run the idea by dad though... i'm sure he'll love it! if not, i've got an 18hp twin cylinder b&s i'm gonna be rebuilding this summer...maybe i'll put it on there, it'll be a big gokart type thing...

i cook my own meals except for the ocassional roast, or meatloaf.... so thats not much of a problem really...

as long as my roadrunner, AND lawnrunner are on the same ship with me, no problem...

i'll just run over some ragheads while i'm over there...and provide an escape service for POW's... ZIP IN, ZIP OUT, SAFE!

then, i'll mow lawns after the war...

I've spent a little time in that area, you'll starve mowing lawns. Raking rocks could be a full time endeaver.

I've read a few articles on using a smog pump as a supercharger on your lawnmower... they put out quite a bit of pressure and kinda whine like a blower...

One article I read had his 10 horse mower putting out close to 30 horspower with the smog pump blower and a little head work.....

Now that's fun....fatten up the carb though....lol

heh, i ran the idea by dad, he thought i was out of my mind but he liked it! he asked what i was going to do about the exhaust, and he liked the idea of running a pipe under the body, and exiting in front of the rear tire with a nice, shiny, chrome tip...

now i just have to fabricate a way to still have an air filter...i was thinkin one of them K&N cool air intake things for ricers and vettes...the one with the little tube and funky cone filter...then fabricate somthing to get the 'blower' mounted on the carb... sounds like a fun project after i get my roadrunner back on the road...till then, i'm off playing on my lawnrunner...

So, what would you do after these two vehicals are done? Drive the Roadrunner to the shows and trailer the Lawnrunner behind?

hehe yeah! naw, i don't think i'll EVER be done with my roadrunner... when i have a good job (in the future), i wanna tub it, put a ladder bar suspension in the rear, with shortened axle, 4 wheel disk (instead of front disk, rear drum), 10 or 12 pt roll cage, blower... list goes ON AND ON! course, thats FUTURE stuffs though...

good idea though, mow an area for the roadrunner if it's in the grass... that and it would look pretty cool!
