Question Spline count on 8 3/4 axles

What is the spline count and axle length on a '70 swinger 8 3/4? I'm looking to convert over to large bolt pattern axles and am to lazy to pull an axle right now. Also, does anyone know if the Moser axles will accept stock a-body brakes, unlike the Yukons? Thanks in advance.

I put bigger b body brakes on my 8 3/4, and moser axles. I did go to larger spacing on the bolts and just had to redrill the drums. I dont think you will have any problems but give them a call. Moser is awesome to deal with. If you need a set of gears let me know I have a set sitting here. I am switching to a Dana and have all kinds of 8 3/4 stuff that I would like to get rid of and save some cash on the dana deal.

Stock spline is 30 spline. I have a set of 3.91's for a 489 case, used 1 season in my car, look like new.

Kevin, what kind of 8 3/4 parts do you have?

The stock axles have 30 spline count regardless of bolt pattern.

The Mosers [large bolt pattern, 5x4 1/2"] I have work just fine with the 10"x3", drum brakes. I bought new drums at the local speed shop. They didn't cost much, $10 each I think. Better than redrilling unless you have a mill to get them real acurate.
I've never heard of Yukon axles. How can they make something that doesn't work with the stock brakes? I'd keep away from them.

Yukon is a Strange Eng economy brand. Moser and Yukon can make the axle to take the 10" A body brake but there is no reason to keep A body brakes. Other 10" brake parts do not interchange. New A body brake drums are $130 and up when you can find them. Besides A body 10" brakes are 1 3/4" wide, other Mopar 10" are 2 1/2" wide. Used 10 x 2 1/2" setups are very plentiful and replacement parts cheap and common. Never heard of a 3" wide 10" brake.
