518 in Abody?
I thought for sure that there was mopar maniacs putting the 518 trans in Abodied cars Where would I find more info on this or is it really not possible? Also ehostler where do I get the info on gear venders? THANKS B.S.C

The GV Overdrive can be seen in most car mags. I don't know of a web site for them, but it is possible they have one.
As far as putting a 518 into an "A" body, you'll have to hack it up a bit because the rear of the tranny is larger than the the one your replacing it with. The a custom crossmember is needed to fit the tranny up to the floor. Lastly, custom driveshaft. Just make sure the angles are right. Peopple are doing this swap, but it is not easy or quick to do. |

I talked to a guy who had one in his 340 Dart. He loves it, but said the crossmember mods were extensive.

I would go with the GV OD, if you are wanting to stay with an auto. If you really want to go with the 518, take a look in teh tech archives. I have posted a series on the 518 swap.

ehostler I down loaded the info on the A518 but all that info was about the trans and modes to the trans nothing on how to get it in a A body car . Any Idea on where I might get this info so that I will have a idea of whats involved. THANKS!
