Hey, I have 2 questions, I need help really bad.

1. there is a clicking sound coming from the right side of the motor, passenger side. WHat could this be????

2. the car has no vibration until higher speeds in 3rd gear.

the engine is brand new, as well as the transmisson, with little breaking in time.

A clicking noise is most likely in the valve train, you might have to readjust the lash (assuming mech. cam and rockers), otherwise something is giving to much clearance, like a short or bent pushrod. You did not give any specifics but thats what it sounds like you are talking about. If the noise is a "tick" rather than a "click" it's probably a small exhaust leak between the exhaust manifold or header and the cylinder head.
Vibrations can be caused by a lot of things. First, determine if the vibration is engine or driveline by revving the motor to the rpm it happens at while the car is still. No vibration? then it has to be from the transmission to the diff. Check u-joints first. If you can create the problem with the engine only (car not moving) something in the engine or clutch assembly is out of whack. If you can narrow it down and give us more info, we have a better chance to help you figure this out...............djs

Default I had the same problem

When I fired my 340 for the first time it had ticking noise from the right side. I thought it was valve train , turned out to be the fuel pump - and it was new! The ticking noise would change with rpm it would get faster but not louder. You might try another pump, its a cheap and easy swap.

Default Another suggestion

Ask around at some auto repair shops to see if they have a engine noise probe (like a doctors stethescope...sp?) that is the quickest way to find exactly where the noise is coming from. That's how I found the ticking fuel pump and I was glad I didn't pull off that freshly painted valve cover!

we found out it could be a worn cam lobe, we know a guy that went throught 4 of those purple shafts, within 30 min. he didnt set them up wrong either, because after the purple shafts he got a comp and it has been working since. We think that might be the problem, but not sure yet. what are the advantages to having roller rockers? is it practical for the street?

rollers have less wear and less HP loss due to friction. Great for the street.
