I posted in the tires forum, but i thing this room gets more traffic, so..

ok, ive always heard for mounting slicks on wheels, you wanna stay +/- 1". Is that the bead width of the wheel? Heres the thing, i have a set of 8.5" slicks, and found some 15x8 wheels.. but he says from bead to bead the wheels are 7". Would this be cool? or would it balloon out the sidewalls too much?

I don't know if this helps, but I run Mickey thompson et streets 26x11.5 on 16" rims. the listed tread width is 9.7" and the suggested rim size is 9"

I have them mounted on 8" wide rims and have had them on the car for years, no problems

They do not bubble out or look stupid either, they look F*&^ing mean as hell!!!!!

You go by the bead size since that's where the tire sits. Most wheels are measured and so;d by the outside the wheel measurement and that is the wrong way to do it. They aare usually not more than a 1/2 off except on cheaper wheels. I dont thinik the .5 difference in the slick will hurt too much. Watch them as they run. If the slick looks rounded on the edges the rim is too small.

Well I dont know how the ET streets work. But dont go and put a big slick on a little wheel. You will balloon out the sidewall and when this happens the tread is crowned. So that means less tread on the ground, and you paid for rubber your not using.

I have 14.5 inch slicks on 14 inch rims.

although the M/T site says my tread width is 7.1", and to use a 7" wheel... i think i may go with some 15x8 bart wheels since they are 19lbs and chizzeap
