Intake valley tin gaskets?
I went to the parts house today and bought a felpro valley tin with the heat block off for my 440 and noticed that it has the four paper intake gaskets with it. Why do these have them and the standard valley tin dont? Also will this cause a fit problem for the intake. Thanks

Bellypan w/ Paper Gaskets
My understanding of this gasket kit is that it is the one that was specified for the 440 Six Pack motors that used the Aluminum Intake manifold and provided a better seal than the stamped steel belly pan alone. You get four thin paper gaskets that you glue to the top & bottom of the pan.
If your heads have been milled/and or your block decked you can find yourself on the wrong side of the tolerances. I had to have an aluminum manifold milled to fit on my 440, but, I think the superior seal is worth it. |

The stamped steel gasket is not recommended for alum manifolds so one of the paper ones is used on the top side between the steel and the maniold. Stock cast iron uses the stamped steel by itself unless something has been milled. On my circle burner I had the heads milled .030 and the intake face of the heads milled .040. I had to use two paper gsk's per side for proper alignment.
