Are these Con Rods anything special ??
Hope the picture comes out ok, anyway I have a set of 3418645 con rods with "DC 8" marked on them, someone told me a long time ago that they were a performance rod issued by Chrysler backin the 70's, assuming the "DC" means Direct Connection, is or was there anything special about these rods?, probably turning back the clock for this info but maybe someone will know. |

Looks like a regular old I-beam rod to me.

According to my book these are the forged hp 360 connecting rod. THey could also be found in the 74 to 75 hp engine from the factory. The service number for these are 3751015, but not sure if that number is helpful or not just included it. Great set of rods so use them or hold onto them for later.

Thanks for the info, sort of answers that little mystery, yes Bone, don't look anything special, I haven't a plain ol' 645 rod for a really close inspection.
I'm in the process of planning / building another 360, this time around I am considering more rpm so was looking at H-Beam rods but thought about using these rods, spun the other engine to 7,000 rpm a few times with polished & peened factory 645 rods, cam was 255 @ 0.050 mechanical, upgrade to mid 260 this time & more compression, H-Beams more than likely good insurance. |

If they are the D.C. HP 8 rods they were magnafluxed & shot peened with good rod bolts. Couldn't tell from the picture if they have they bronze bushing. Good rods use them.

This set is press fit.
I was considering using the Mopar 657 mechanical cam this time, what do you guys say, these rods good enough to survive? |

Great rod. It will hold up to a lot.
Fast one here's one that will scare you then since you scare easy. All my dirt and asphault 360's use a '68 to '69 only full floating 318 rod. Ligter than any 360 or 340 rod. And with light weight pistons and proper balance they survive at 7000 on and off throttle all night long. Scarry enough for ya?? |

These rods are actually the heavy duty rods supplied on the 1979 Douglas Aircraft DC-8 jetliner. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, me scare easy?, you ain't been in the car with me driving, LOL !, it's the cost of repairs that has me worried in case one lets go, but anything can happen in high rpm, a friend of mine ran a 9.99 with Nitrous in his 383 & factory rods, it makes you wonder if you're spending dollars on exotic stuff for no reason at times, of course the old Chrysler engineering sure helps
