Default prepping before rattle can painting..advice..

heres the deal, i am getting my ralley wheels sandblasted, when they come back i am going to paint them with the mopar ralley wheel paint in the rattle cans, i will also be using rattle can primer, now, i need to know what i can clean the wheels with right before painting, i was told by many to use prepsol, but no one around here has it and i am going to paint friday, can i use laquer thinner, or will that cause problems with adhesion of the rattle can primer or rattle can mopar ralley paint?

I think lacquer thinner is a little strong, I would use Varsol, but that should do it, make sure you clean it and let it dry by it's self for about an hour, to make sure it all eveporated, then prime, air dry and paint, should go real well

DO NOT USE THINNER!!! It contains oils and will leave "fisheyes" all over the place! I would just use the pre-clean or prep that you find in any auto parts store as well as the Bulldog Adhesion Promoter. It will help make things stick by giving it a chemical bite to go with your 300 grit scuffing. I would also spend the $1.99 on the plastic trigger handle for spray cans as it helps keep your finger from cramping or getting in the spray pattern. Good Luck!!

Wash the wheels with a window cleaner like 409, wash with soap and water, rinse with water, final clean with a de-greaser like prep sol, go to your local auto paint supplier, wipe with a tack rag and paint.
