Help mopar 8 3/4 interchange

I have a 69 Dart GTS with 340 , i just bought a new pumpkin, my dart has the 741 casting with 4:10 sure grip, what i bought was 1973 489 case with 3:55 sure grip, how difficult will this be to interchange, what problems will i run into? im pretty sure i have 30 spline axles in the dart, but correct me if im wrong, cause i know the 489 case has 30 spline. will i have any problems with the yoke? any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Dan.

It should be a straight swap. The axles that are connected to the 741 will slide right into the 489. The only problem that you may have is the yoke assembly.

I just did a similar swap on my cuda. I went from 3.54 to 3.23. The 3.23 had the large u-joint and the cuda uses the small. I got lucky and the yolk assemblies on both had the same amount of splines so i just swapped them. I know they are made with 2 different splines.

Default Swap complete

Swap is a success, no problems at all. Napa had the u joint and it runs great. THanks Dan.

Would you be interested in saling the 4.10 gears. You can keep the posi, I just want the case (pinion still in it) and the ring gear.
