Who's running a fast Iron head 440 that runs into the 11's ?
I would like to here who is running a fast car on the street that see's 11 second time slips. Not counting Max wedge heads, I would like to here about basic block/engine setup and prep, head mods/valve sizes maybe flowrates. Also intake carb size, cam profile, converter, rearend gear, and curb weight. Ignition, and power adders if any. Have I left anything out?

ok, the car is a '68 coronet and used to run at SIR but is now in Spokane. It was not lightened except for tubs. It had all original interior. It was a ladder bar 14x32 tire, 727 with a 4500 converter. The engine was a 906 head ported with 2.14/1.81 valves. Team-G with a dominator. Comp cams 21-630-5 flat tappet cam, .650" lift, 290 @.050" on a 108 lobe seperation. 12.5:1 and roller rockers. Anyway this car ran 10.40's. Not to bad.

My iron headed 440 last year ran 10.5s and it had 7.8:1 compression, and solid cam. No power adders.
Will let ya know monday what the new motor runs, it is iron headed and hoping for 9.5s or so...but probably more like 9.7s |

10 second 440
A friend has a 440 in an aussie charger , around 3550 with him in it. It has around 10:1 comp. 906 heads 2.14" / !.81" valves, 292 / 509" hydraulic cam street dominator manifold ,some sort of large Holley carb ??? dont know cfm. I think it runs a 3.9 cog in the rear. ON slicks it has run a best of 10.6 at 123 mph Not bad for iron heads and a hydraulic cam, Oh yeah it also has a set of Crane roller rockers. The build was from a magazine article on Bill bagshaw's Duster

906 Iron Heads
My dads '64 ran 10.9 with a 440 11.5 to 1 compression 1.5 crane gold roller rockers, comp 750 roller. still had more in it, but we lost a pushrod, took out .050 in the deck surface, .050 in the head surface. Also had the heads fully ported with 2.14 int/ 181 ex. Right now we are experimenting with another set of 906 put in 2.14in/1.88ex valves(set up for a big bore engine) bore size has to be at least 4.40 or a smaller cam so the valves don't hit the cylinder walls in the block.
